Beating the Heat: Playgroup Edition

Every week, we try and make it to our ward's playgroup so Iva and Charlie have a chance to see their friends outside of nursery (and I can have adult conversation.) Iva and Charlie love playing with their friends- especially Toby. This week playgroup was at the splash pad and they had a blast chasing each other around and eating otter pops in the nice warm AZ weather. I have a feeling we will be making lots of trips to the splash pad this summer.

30 Weeks

But who is counting?!?

Me! And Iva! She can hardly wait for new baby- she thinks it is a duck though? I am not sure why, but during the 3D ultrasound she kept calling it a baby quack quack and a duck. She is going to be disappointed when it isn't a duck.

So far everything is going well. Baby is growing on schedule and has a healthy heart beat. I have hit the third trimester and will start to go to the doctor every two weeks now. It still doesn't seem real yet. I am not sure if it is because we didn't didn't find out the gender, Shawn hasn't been able to come to the appointments, my morning sickness is back or what, but it still seems like we have a long time left to go. And we really don't have much time left at all- about ten weeks is all and we have a lot to do in those ten weeks. I am afraid time is going to fly by.

But I can't wait to see if we have another full head of hair or a bald baby?!? My gut (and lack of heartburn) is telling me a bald baby is on its way... We will see?!?

Happy Easter

We had a couple exciting days leading up to Easter.

Friday, we had our little playgroup Easter egg hunt. Our ward combined with two other wards and there was a great turn out. Iva and Charlie had a blast chasing eggs, playing in rocks, and eating candy.

Saturday, MWU had their Easter Extravanganza. Shawn was able to take a study break and come with us. (Iva was so excited for "one more egg run" and "dada come" since he didn't come to the the Friday hunt.)

They had a bounce house set up. Iva and Charlie both bounced, bounced, and bounced some more.

After bouncing, it was time for the egg hunt. They had a field set up for the 0-3 year olds. Iva and Charlie did their best (and handled getting trampled surprisingly well) and both ended up with three eggs each.  The field was completely cleared out in maybe 30 seconds. It was pretty amazing.

After the egg hunt and opening each egg and inspecting the goods, we went to meet the Easter bunny. Iva was so excited to see the bunny and was pretty disappointed when she realized it wasn't a real bunny. Charlie had no clue what to think of the bunny and didn't want to take his eye off him.

Saturday and Sunday, we watched General conference and had a quiet Easter as our little family. The Easter bunny has been sick and decided to keep it very simple this year and skip our house. Guess what? No one even noticed. Iva and Charlie were just happy to have dada home. We did dye eggs and that was a big hit with Iva- she has her colors down and was pretty happy to show that skill off.

Our Easter ended up being perfect. It was spent with our little family listening to the words of the prophet and apostles. We are so blessed and have really been able to stop and recognize those blessings lately. I know that all of our blessings are Because of Him. I know Jesus Christ lives and is our Savior and Redeemer. I am grateful for that knowledge and pray I pass that knowledge on to Iva and Charlie. And am thankful we were able to slow down and remember that this Easter Sunday

I am an octonaut!

Iva is obsessed with anything water- Finding Nemo, The Octonauts, octopus, fish, aquariums, etc.

We went swimming the other day and she kept yelling, "Look, I am an octonaut! Charlie octonaut!"

Today after conference, we told her she could watch whatever she wanted because they watched conference so well. She choose a documentary about an octopus. I kid you not, she really picked it. And asked "what's that?" a million times. She thought it was the best show ever.

I sure love my little octonaut and cannot believe how big she is getting.
