Easter

Easter fell on General Conference this year and I loved it. We had a great day watching conference, decorating eggs, and squeezing in an egg hunt. (I was in Fiji last Easter and the Easter Bunny never hide eggs- just brought baskets. Iva and Charlie were so happy that he found our house this year and pooped eggs.)

General Conference

We had a nice, quiet General Conference. I absolutely loved conference and spending time at home as a family. We were able to just sit and listen in our own way. Charlie loved singing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and we all got a kick out of that. Liz made awesome printables for taking notes. I hope she does it again next conference. We ate cinnamon rolls. We really just had a nice quiet weekend.

General Conference

I love general conference weekend for so many reasons... the food, staying home all weekend with my family, listening to the words of apostles, prophets, and church leaders, and not worrying about a thing.

We had fun playing outside between sessions. We ate yummy cinnamon rolls. They were so yummy that a bird flew into the house to eat them, pooped on our table, and flew back out the door. We really just had fun being together and the kids did surprisingly well listening to conference.

Conference Weekend

Conference weekend was amazing and hard weekend all at once. Miscarrying during that time was probably a small miracle in itself. I couldn't have been more spiritually fed than by conference.

Charlie disappeared and reappeared wearing make-up (on Shawn's watch.) Henry was extra snuggly. And Iva loved getting the chance to color with my special pens and my special coloring book. She sure is growing up and way too fast. And of course, a family fort was made. Seems like that has become a family tradition.

Happy Easter

We had a couple exciting days leading up to Easter.

Friday, we had our little playgroup Easter egg hunt. Our ward combined with two other wards and there was a great turn out. Iva and Charlie had a blast chasing eggs, playing in rocks, and eating candy.

Saturday, MWU had their Easter Extravanganza. Shawn was able to take a study break and come with us. (Iva was so excited for "one more egg run" and "dada come" since he didn't come to the the Friday hunt.)

They had a bounce house set up. Iva and Charlie both bounced, bounced, and bounced some more.

After bouncing, it was time for the egg hunt. They had a field set up for the 0-3 year olds. Iva and Charlie did their best (and handled getting trampled surprisingly well) and both ended up with three eggs each.  The field was completely cleared out in maybe 30 seconds. It was pretty amazing.

After the egg hunt and opening each egg and inspecting the goods, we went to meet the Easter bunny. Iva was so excited to see the bunny and was pretty disappointed when she realized it wasn't a real bunny. Charlie had no clue what to think of the bunny and didn't want to take his eye off him.

Saturday and Sunday, we watched General conference and had a quiet Easter as our little family. The Easter bunny has been sick and decided to keep it very simple this year and skip our house. Guess what? No one even noticed. Iva and Charlie were just happy to have dada home. We did dye eggs and that was a big hit with Iva- she has her colors down and was pretty happy to show that skill off.

Our Easter ended up being perfect. It was spent with our little family listening to the words of the prophet and apostles. We are so blessed and have really been able to stop and recognize those blessings lately. I know that all of our blessings are Because of Him. I know Jesus Christ lives and is our Savior and Redeemer. I am grateful for that knowledge and pray I pass that knowledge on to Iva and Charlie. And am thankful we were able to slow down and remember that this Easter Sunday

Conference Weekend

We had a great conference weekend. It was really nice to not chase Iva around the chapel for three hours and to be able to sit and listen uninterrupted (for the most part). It was just the pick me up I needed.

Iva did pretty good watching conference as long as I kept the food coming (cheesy grits were her favorite) and the coloring pages on hand. She has just started to really love coloring and even though the markers are only supposed to color on the page she still somehow manges to make a mess?!? I think we might need to invest in an aquadoodle. Any "clean" coloring book/tools/markers suggestions?
