All in a Weekend...

We had an awesome weekend with the Sookhoos. Kate, Luke, Shawn, Iva and I left Thurs afternoon for Kate's work convention.

The Gaylord Convention Center in the National Harbor. It was an awesome hotel. We had a lot of fun exploring.

I found Meg's dream job. I never knew there was such a thing as a Peep store.

We walked the pier and ate dinner on Thurs night while Kate went to the welcome reception with Luke.

Iva loved the pork from my salad at Baja Fresh. But then again, when doesn't she love food?

We all shared a room Thursday night and of course, Iva decided to be a pill and wake everyone (including poor Luke) up in the middle of the night. Luckily, we had a relaxing morning while Kate was in classes. Iva and Luke caught up on sleep and hung out in the room.

Friday afternoon, Steve, Leah and Drew came and met us at the hotel. We played games. Shawn beat Steve at pool- after Shawn finally figured out what he was and stopped sinking Steve's balls for him. Leah and Kate swam. And we explored the pier more.

Then around 6:30 that night we decided to take the 30 minute trip to Washington DC and see some of the sights. It ended up being perfect because Iva had not taken a nap all day and slept the whole time in the car. Steve and Kate were the perfect tour guides. Steve even sat in the car with sleeping Iva so we could run and see some of the sights.

After our tour of DC, we headed back to the hotel and settled down for the night. We had separate rooms and of course, Iva was back on her schedule and slept like a rock.

We woke up this morning with no plan (besides going to the Farmer's market). We went to the market and pink berry for smoothies.

After pink berry and a disappointing trip to the Farmer's market, we headed to Old Town Alexandria. When we got there, we saw signs for Mt Vernon and decided since we were only half an hour away that we should go.
