Green Thumb

I do not have a green thumb, but Iva and Charlie sure do. I love to see their excitement for their plants. They always make sure they are watered and growing. They are currently trying to figure out how to keep the birds from eating their tiny, red strawberries.

Strawberries

When we lived in Fort Myers and Grandma Margaret was still driving, she would pick me up and take me strawberry picking. I loved it and have a lot of fond memories of going and sneaking strawberries before they weighed my bucket. The other day we were picking Iva's strawberries and seeing her chubby little hands picking brought back lots of memories for some reason. I can't wait to see what Grandma Margaret has been up to up there all this time?!?

Faith of Little Children

Her faith outlasted mine yet again. (The first time was with the cantaloupe.) We planted our tomato plants a long time ago and they were doing great. We had tons of little green tomatoes. Then it got really cold and then plant seemed to freeze too. Nothing changed and we had lots of green tomatoes just hanging out. We put blankets on the plants. We tried everything. But they wouldn't change for months. I gave up, but Iva didn't. She would check them everyday and tell me they were still green. The other day, she ran inside and told me they were orange. I didn't believe her, but she was right and she ate her first tomato last night. Surprisingly, they were delicious.

Herb Garden

I love gardens. (I must get that from Grammie Cindy.) I decided to get a jump start on an herb garden indoors this year.

Our window has been taken over and I love it. I am most excited for the kale chips so I hope the kale keeps growing and showing promise :) so far so good.

Basil and Parsley. I just googled how to make freezer parsley pesto sauce. We have a lot of parsley on our hands.
All of the plants.. the calla lilly was my Valentine's present ;)
The kale is looking good- I can hardly wait.

Our Garden.

Shawn and I both were looking forward to having a garden this summer. We don't have a yard at our apartment so we had to get creative. We got a giftcard to Home Depot for our wedding and decided to put it towards our garden. Here is what we came up with.

We have two different types of tomato plants, peas, and a habanero plant.

The tomatoes and peas are kind of going crazy.
But at least they are growing!

We ate our first peas, but are still waiting for our first tomatoes! Oh to summer!
