People always ask if Charlie looks like Iva did when she was born. I always said no, but after looking at these pictures... maybe they do. I think Iva's hair makes it hard to tell... But what do you think?

One Month Charlie
![]() |
| Charles (Charlie) Wallace Catmull |
Charlie is one month old and I can hardly believe it. This last month has gone by really fast (and really slow.) Charlie is a good baby. He has to eat at least every three hours or we really hear about it. (Some days he decides he needs to eat every two hours which is oh so fun.) He is putting on weight and growing. He was swimming in 0-3 month clothes for the first couple of weeks and now they are starting to fit nicely. He is an ok sleeper. We get one four hour period, but besides that he is up every three hours. He sleeps through everything though- even Iva's screams, cries, and laughs. He is starting to be awake more during the day. He is getting better about keeping his eyes from crossing and focusing, but still has a ways to go. He loves to be held and cuddled. He is a sweet baby.
He has peed and pooped on both Shawn and I while having his diaper changed. He is teaching us already that boys are definitely different than girls.

Snow Day
I woke up this morning to the first real snow of winter. I have been dreading this day. Iva begs and begs me to go outside every day and I didn't know what we do when there was snow on the ground. Iva didn't miss a beat playing in the snow today. And she was pretty cute all bundled up- it makes it worth it to get her all dressed.
After outlasting me, she convinced Shawn to go outside with her. She outlasted Shawn too and was left to cry at the door.

Late Nights
Shawn has been working late a lot lately. (It is 1030 and he is still not home.) Iva is in bed by 8-830 these days. So that leaves Charlie and I with a lot of just the two of us time.
He is not usually naked... But when he spits up twice during a feeding, the third clothes change gets delayed a bit.

Charlie Goes on Vacation
Well, a mini vacation that is. Shawn was heading to Washington for the weekend so Charlie, Iva and I hitched a ride to Boise. We spent the weekend there with Grammie, Grampie and the Iversons.
Iva absolutely loves going to Eagle. She loved playing outside. Chasing Squirt. Playing with her cousins. Being silly. Being dramatic and making everyone give her space. Randomly cuddling. Feeding the goats. Saying hi to all the animals. Eating Grammie's (and Liz's) delicious meals. Being tickled by Grampie. Going to the movies. Sitting in the baby doll's stroller. Throwing Elmo away. Pretending to give kisses and then only kissing stuffed animals. Her new baby doll. Being spoiled. Playing at the park. The list goes on and on. No wonder she loves going to visit Grammie and Grampie.
Charlie loved his first trip to Eagle, too. He got held and cuddled the whole time. He even got an awesome lipstick kiss. He proved to be a good little traveler like his older sister. The only time he seems to get fussy is when he is hungry, needs a diaper change, or gets sat on. Can you blame him? I am worried he is going to miss being held come tomorrow and it is just Charlie, Iva and I.

Happy Halloween!
We decided to celebrate Halloween two nights in a row because Shawn had to work Halloween night.
Wednesday night we went to Trick or Treat Street at Snake River Landing. I had heard about it on the radio and thought it sounded perfect. (Only for kids under 8, one street, Shawn being able to come, free candy, and decorated RV were a few of the reasons it sounded perfect.) Iva had a lot of fun wandering around and smiling at people randomly taking her picture.
She didn't know what the candy was until we got home and has since become a candy monster.
On Halloween night, Iva, Charlie and I went over to the Garlick's new house to have pizza and get ready to go trick or treating with the cousins. Poor Iva was having a rough night all because of me- I stepped on her fingers, banged her head into the door while she was recovering from the smashed fingers, and knocked her down. She eventually recovered and had a fun night. We went trick or treating at the neighborhood trunk or treat. At one of the first trunks, Iva got a lollipop and was content to just sit in the stroller and eat her lollipop for the rest of the night. She was easy to please. I, also, made a little friend named Grant who asked to push the stroller (with Iva an Charlie in it) for me. I told him yes and only learned later he was pushing the stroller so people wouldn't recognize him because it was his second time going around the trunks. Cute, funny, little kid. Guess he was sent to replace Shawn and help me out :)
