Dinosaur Party

Charlie kept it pretty simple in his requests for his party with friends. He wanted it to be dinosaur and to read dinosaur books. We did both and had a dinosaur egg hunt, hatched dinosaur eggs, had a dinosaur ball toss, played with dinosaur gliders, and enjoyed the backyard. It was a lot of fun and both Iva and Charlie are already planning their parties for next year. I didn't do a very good job taking pictures, but here are a few.

Charlie Turns Three.

We have a little family tradition of waking the kids up to streamers and balloons on their birthday. Poor Charlie is a second child. Shawn and I laid down for bed and he asked what I had on my schedule for the next day. Whoops... Charlie's birthday. So Shawn took Charlie for some errands in the morning while Iva and I stayed home and decorated for Charlie.

Charlie loves dinosaurs and wanted a green cake with dinosaurs on it. Easy enough. I was happy when his cake did not disappoint.

All he wanted for his birthday was lots of dinosaurs and new trains. He was one happy birthday boy. I hope he always stays so happy and easy going.

Interview with a Sunbeam

Iva is a SUNBEAM! And I can hardly believe it.

The first week of sunbeams, she went and didn't look back. Today, she looked back, fought back tears, hid in my skirt, and wanted nothing to do with sunbeams. She told me she wanted Sister Stone and Sister Goodman to come to nursery with her. Poor thing.

The Primary President called this evening and asked if she could come over and get to know "sweet" Iva a little better. I am pretty sure it is because of Iva's fear of going to sunbeams today. But either way, it was appreciated and Iva was surprisngly excited. Sis Leber brought a plate of cookies with Iva's name on it and handed it to Iva. Iva couldn't believe they were her special treat. (She shared with Charlie, but not Shawn or me.) She was so proud. Sis Leber asked her some questions to spotlight her sometime in the next year. Her answers surprised me, but didn't. (The fact she talked and answered Sis Leber surprised me the most.)

So Iva as a Sunbeam...

What is your favorite color? Black.
What is your favorite food? Chicken.
What is your favorite candy? The chocolate ones.
What is your favorite book? Good night, Train.
What is your favorite activity? Play in the grass.
What is your favorite primary song? Popcorn popping. (And the sound alphabet.)
What is your favorite sport? Gymnastics
What is your favorite movie? Bug's Life or Buzz Lightyear (I couldn't quite understand.)
What do you want to be when you grow up? Like mommy. (Melt my heart and add on a lot of pressure.)

We sure love our tender hearted, painfully shy, Iva girl.
