Eagle to Glendale

We survived! Our trip home seemed to be smooth sailing. We got to the airport an hour and a half early. Grammie and Grampie helped us check in and carried all of our stuff. We made it through security no problem. We got McDonalds for breakfast. We even boarded the plane early.

About an hour into our flight, I decided to check the flight status and we were not on our flight path. We had to fly west about an hour out of the way and cut back to avoid a big storm which added on about an hour of flight time. 

Poor Shawn got stuck in flash flooding was late getting to the airport- he didn't know we were late and was pretty worried we would be waiting for him. He ended up having to wait an hour for us. 

The babies were so excited to see dada! And so was I. We definitely missed our fun dada. 

Everything is Awesome Week

We had a great family reunion. My emotions were all over the place (no clue why? I am not pregnant.) and the only drama was because of me. Other than that, we had a blast!

Iva and Charlie loved playing with their cousins, aunts and uncles, and Grampie and Grammie. It was pretty awesome to have all the grandchildren (14) in one house and running wild! 

We had lots of fun- splash pads, parks, taste tests, aquarium, swimming, tractor rides, horse rides, paddle boarding, crafts, car races, frozen yogurt (I gained 6 lbs in a week) and more! 

We had a blast and can't believe how fast the week flew by. We are missing everyone and can't wait for the next family reunion. We are so grateful that Grammie and Grampie made it possible for us to be there- we are so glad we didn't have to miss out. 

Glendale to Eagle

On August 12th, Iva, Charlie and I headed to Eagle for a Shaver Family Reunion. (Shawn was in his second week of his first year of medical school so there was no time to play for him. He stayed home and studied.)

We flew from Phoenix to Boise. It was a direct flight a little under two hours so we thought no problem and decided to fly right around bedtime so the kids would either sleep or at least be a little more calm on the plane. 

We had no problem going through security and making it to the gate. We got here plenty early (2 hours) and weren't assigned a gate yet. We were just told it would be in concourse d. So we just hung out and found a spot for Iva to watch TV and the airplanes. 

On our way to the airport, the weather was less than ideal, but I didn't think much of it. 

Well, our less than ideal weather lead to a four hour delay. Luckily, the babies were troopers. They definitely had better attitudes than me. So we spent six hours in concourse d killing time. We found a family bathroom that had a separate room with a little bed, shower and huge cupboards in it. We may or may not have spent a lot of time in there. I was hoping we could get Charlie to fall asleep in there if there wasn't so much going on. Welp, no luck there. Neither baby slept in the airport or on the airplane. 

After cleaning the airport, pole dancing, and crawling everywhere, we finally made it on the plane. It felt so good to get on the plane and just sit. Iva had her own seat and Charlie was my lap baby. It was pretty easy once we were on the plane. Iva played the iPad the whole time and Charlie just cuddled. We didn't even open up our carry on- except for Twizzlers. Yep, we ate a whole (little) package of Twizzlers at 1 in the morning. 

We planned our flight so we would get into Boise at pretty much the same time as the Sookhoos. Well, after they had delays, a near missed connecting flight, a sprint through the airport, and who knows what else, they still beat us to the airport. Grampie picked them up and took them home while Grammie waited for us. We made it to Eagle and in bed around 3 am. Such a great start to "everything is awesome" week. 

Shaver Family Pictures

As part of the Shaver family reunion, we had family pictures taken. We missed having dada there, but the pictures turned out great. And it is great to have a "family" picture worth sharing. Plus I think is is the first time we have had a sister picture taken (ever.)
