Indio, CA

While Grammie and Grampie were here, they planned a trip to Indio, CA to visit my dad's brother, Jim, and his wife, Beck. Luckily, they let Iva, Charlie and I tag along. It is about a 3 1/2 hour drive- unfortunately a truck full of bees and a truck full of frozen chicken collided and caused us to be a little delayed. We ended up stopping at a nice cafe for lunch and to kill time so it wasn't too bad.

Aunt Beck and Uncle Jimmy winter in a nice Motorcoach/ RV park. It is around a golf course and is beautiful- lots of green grass, flowers, and water features. Iva and Charlie loved playing on the golf course, playing in the rocks, playing with Tux, and swimming in their pool. (The pool was heated to 85 degrees.) I was a little worried the older folks would be annoyed with them, but they all seemed sincerely excited to see little ones. Iva and Charlie were great little travelers. Charlie never got a nap in his bed, but he did great with  only getting naps while going for walks with Grammie and falling asleep in his stroller.

While we were in Indio, Grammie had a birthday. Iva was pretty excited to eat chocolate cake and help grammie blow out her candle.

One day, we made a trip to a park/reservoir. The kids loved being outside and playing in the sand. (Well, they loved it once Iva got over the fact that she couldn't swim in the reservoir because the nitrate levels were too high. She was stripping down to nakey and just crying to swim. Poor thing could not understand why she couldn't.)

While were in Indio, we stayed in a really nice Country Club. We spent all of our awake time at Jim and Beck's, but loved our room for sleeping (and the breakfast.) There were two queen beds for Iva and I and we brought Charlie's pack n play. Iva loved the big queen beds and wanted to sleep alone until about 7 in the morning. It was awesome. I got to sleep in a queen bed all by myself, but still got Iva cuddles in the morning. And for the first time ever, there was no crying in the hotel room when it was time for bed.

We had a great mini vacation and are so glad we got to tag along with Grammie and Grampie and visit Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Beck.
